കോഴിക്കോട്: മാധ്യമപ്രവർത്തനം വെറുമൊരു തൊഴിൽ എന്നതിലുപരി സമൂഹത്തോടുള്ള വലിയൊരു ഉത്തരവാദിത്തമാണെന്ന് ചന്ദ്രിക ഗവേണിംഗ് ബോഡി ചെയർമാൻ എം എ റസാഖ് എംഎൽഎ. കേരള പത്ര പ്രവർത്തക അസോസിയേഷൻ കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലാ സമ്മേളനം നളന്ദ ഓഡിറ്റോറിയത്തിൽ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.

ഒരു വാർത്ത പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അതിന്റെ പിന്നിൽ ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ ജീവിതവും ഒരു കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ വികാരങ്ങളും ഒരു സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രതീക്ഷകളും ഉണ്ടാകാമെന്ന ബോധ്യം ഓരോ മാധ്യമപ്രവർത്തകനുമുണ്ടാകണം. വാർത്തയുടെ വേഗതയേക്കാൾ പ്രധാനമാണ് വാർത്തയുടെ സത്യസന്ധത.

ആദ്യം വാർത്ത നൽകണമെന്ന മത്സരത്തിനിടയിൽ വസ്തുതകൾ പരിശോധിക്കാതെയും ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ ഭാഗം കേൾക്കാതെയും വാർത്തകൾ നൽകുന്നത് വലിയ പ്രത്യാഘാതങ്ങൾക്ക് കാരണമാകും. അതുകൊണ്ട് സത്യാന്വേഷണവും വസ്തുതാ പരിശോധനയും മാധ്യമ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാന ധാർമികതയായി മാറണം.

മാധ്യമ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം വലിയൊരു അവകാശമാണ്. എന്നാൽ ഓരോ അവകാശത്തിനൊപ്പവും ഉത്തരവാദിത്തവുമുണ്ട്. സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തെ ദുരുപയോഗം ചെയ്യാതെ സത്യത്തിനും നീതിക്കും ജനതാൽപര്യത്തിനും വേണ്ടി ഉപയോഗിക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് മാധ്യമ പ്രവർത്തനം യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ ജനാധിപത്യത്തിന്റെ നാലാം തൂണായി മാറുന്നത്.

പ്രാദേശിക മാധ്യമപ്രവർത്തകർ ഇക്കാര്യത്തിൽ പ്രത്യേക ജാഗ്രത പുലർത്തണമെന്നും റസാഖ് മാസ്റ്റർ പറഞ്ഞു. ജില്ലാ പ്രസിഡന്റ് എം കെ അഷ്റഫ് വാണിമേൽ അധ്യക്ഷനായി. സംസ്ഥാന പ്രസിഡണ്ട് മധു കടുത്തുരുത്തി മുഖ്യ അതിഥിയായി.

സുപ്രീം കോടതി മുൻ ചീഫ് ജസ്റ്റിസ് സിറിയക് ജോസഫ് അധ്യക്ഷനായ ഏഴംഗ ഗ്രീവൻസ് കൗൺസിൽ അംഗമായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട കെ.കെ ശ്രീജിത്ത്, കേരള കൗമുദി പത്രാധിപ പുരസ്കാരം നേടിയ രഘുനാഥ് കുറ്റ്യാടി, നേപ്പാളിലെ ദുരന്ത മുഖത്ത് സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ച ബിജു കക്കയം എന്നിവരെ ചടങ്ങിൽ പൊന്നാട അണിയിച്ചു.

ജില്ലാ സെക്രട്ടറി രഞ്ജിത് നിഹാര സ്വാഗതം പറഞ്ഞ ചടങ്ങിൽ സലിം മുഴിക്കൽ, കണ്ണൻ പന്താവൂർ, ജി ശങ്കർ, ബിജു കക്കയം, എന്നിവർ സംസാരിച്ച ചടങ്ങിന് സുനിൽ കുമാർ കോഴിക്കോട് നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞു.

Media freedom is big right but with responsibility, when used for truth, justice and public interest it becomes fourth pillar of democracy, local journalists should be vigilant. District president MK Ashraf Vanimel presided, state president Madhu Kadathuruthy chief guest. KK Sreejith elected to seven-member Grievance Council headed by former Supreme Court Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph, Raghunath Kuttiady who won Kerala Kaumudi editorial award and Biju Kakkayam who served in Nepal disaster site were felicitated with ponnada. District secretary Ranjith Nihara welcomed, Salim Muzhikkal, Kannan Panthavoor, G Shankar, Biju Kakkayam spoke, Sunil Kumar Kozhikode thanked.
